This is my first hair butter purchase. The ingredients smell pretty natural. It is important to rub the butter in your palms to turn it to oil. It is heavy and if you really want to protect your hair without any oil... this is a good substitute. You will require very small quantity and kind of gives a protective layer. I am not sure how to use it as a styling product but rather a deep moisture sealant for non-style hair days. It didn't work at all with any gels. My hair is medium porosity now with 3A curl type. I use this more like an oil treatment after my recent hair color highlights... kept it for a day and normal shampoo and conditioner the other day with just leave in conditioner. The result is good without much scrunching or diffusing.
